easy 3-ingredient black rice smoothie
On a trip to Taipei we discovered a latte with black rice as main ingredient. I had considered to make a drink with black rice, so once back home I got to experiment. My go-to technique was a smoothie. The result turned out a practical, super-easy and irresistible power drink with only 3 ingredients!
The beans provide lots of non-dairy protein, and blended with black rice, this smoothie is packed with carbs, protein, fiber, mineral and micronutrients. Easily replaces a meal or helps you to recover after a workout.
I prefer to make my own red bean paste, but you can have a look at your local food store. The one from Morinaga is yummy and not too sweet (if you want to try my recipe for homemade red bean paste, drop me a line and I send it to you).
Refrigerated and sealed, each ingredient keeps for up to a week, so you can keep blending for a while!
1/3 cup red bean paste
1 cup soy milk
First, boil the rice as described in a previous post: Black Sticky Rice w/ Coconut Milk (without adding coconut milk, palm sugar or brown sugar).
Then, blend all 3 ingredients!
You can add more sticky rice or red bean paste according to your preference.
THAT'S IT :)
If not sweet enough (largely depends on the brand of soy milk and red bean paste), you can add some honey.
