Any type of pigmented rice, not vacuum sealed, can be stored for around 18 months.
If vacuum, shelf life is extended and rice can hold up to 36 months.
The reason is that due to lower oxygen levels insect infestation and microorganism growth is nearly impossible. Fragrance preservation is an additional benefit.

We harvest once a year at the end of the Monsoon season, October-November
Low volume overseas shipments three times a year
We mill and pack vacuum about 4-8 weeks prior to shipping. Our 'best before' date is set 12 months after milling.
